The institute is consistently ranked amongst the top 20 technical colleges in India

Bhau Institute of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Leadership (BIEL) is set up in COEP, to promote incubation of enterprises from amongst COEP students.

Due to increasing need for entrepreneurial skills in the future generation of technologists, a unique course is being organized by Bhau Institute for entrepreneurs.

About the Course:

The course is designed based on the latest training curriculum and methodologies in use internationally.  The course is aimed at preparing participants to understand the start up concept from different aspects of a business enterprise; like the organization, marketing, finance etc. The course will prepare them to pitch their ideas to International investors and accelerator programs.

The course will consist of about 4 weeks of preparation followed by a 1 week of intensive full time Boot Camp. The preparation will consist of several lectures from renowned Indian and International experts. Project deliverables will need to be created by the entrepreneur; related to his/her own start up idea. This will be a flipped course, in the sense that majority of lectures will be studied by the participant as recorded material at participant’s own convenience while the deliverables will be created in the classroom environment under the direct supervision of the faculty.

Lean Start Up processes will be followed all through the course. Participants will be taught to follow the practices after completion of the course during actual execution of the project.

The participants can attend the course on part-time basis, while engaging in his/her own business during day time. Each week, recorded lectures will need to be studied from home and participants will attend one or two classroom sessions every week to prepare the deliverables, review/discuss the concepts learned. The participants are expected to spend minimum about 10 hours every week during the preparation period of course. However, during one week of Boot Camp, the participants will be required to attend on full time basis.

The course is structured in 3 parts. First 4 weeks, participants will do some basic preparatory work, by creating first version of the business model and related inputs. This will be followed by one week (5th week) of full time intensive Boot Camp to thoroughly analyse the participant’s proposed plan. Several required changes/ improvements will be identified in the Boot Camp sessions. Thereafter, following weeks, the participant will refine the plans and prepare a final version of Business Plan, Executive Summary and Investor Pitch. The participant will be ready to present his/her ideas to investors and launch the business at the end of the course.
